Uniform Reminder
All invested young members are expected to arrive and depart every meeting in correct uniform. This is means uniform shirt/top with all badges sewn on, scarf and woggle. A t-shirt or thin top may be worn underneath to allow the uniform to be removed during meetings. Please make sure all items are labelled with a name.
Outdoor Coats
The weather is getting colder now so please make sure all young members arrive with a warm coat. Sometimes we might have a short outdoor activity or need to leave the building for unplanned reasons. Again coats must be labelled with a name.
Church Parade
This Sunday 10th November we are attending 10:30 Mass for Remembrance Day at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St George, London Road. All members should try their best to attend this please as it is a very important occasion for us as a uniformed organisation. Full smart uniform to be worn including smart school trousers/skirt, black polished shoes and a poppy. Meet 10:15am in the Parish Centre. Please try to be quiet as the previous Mass will still be in progress.
Helpers
The section numbers are rapidly growing, so we are going to become more dependent on parent help. In reality this should mean around one meeting per term if everyone is able to participate. The extra supervision this provides allows us to plan more challenging activities. Please refer to your My.Scout sign up email which I will resend this week and log in and choose a week to help if you haven’t already. We will allocate weeks in name order to fill in gaps.
We are now recruiting for an additional Assistant Beaver Scout Leader and an Assistant Cub Scout Leader to join our established leadership teams. These are uniformed roles. These are very rewarding roles and we have fully functioning teams in place so a good opportunity to join and learn the ropes without taking full responsibility. Excellent industry recognised leadership training is provided. Please speak to one of the leaders or me if you are interested or can think of anyone who might be able to commit to this.
Executive Committee
We are looking for a Chair and Secretary for both groups. Typically the Executive Committee would meet once a term. See this factsheet for more information http://members.scouts.org.uk/factsheets/FS330077.pdf For more information or to nominate a person please contact me.
Last meeting this term 13th December
will be an outdoor hike for all sections more information to follow.
First meeting next term will be Friday 10th January
Many thanks,
Peter Jones
Group Scout Leader
